Pichnarcik died on Wednesday, Nov. 6, following a brave fight against a long-term illness, according to his department and his obituary on the Allwood Funeral Home website.

Officer Pichnarcik, who served the Clifton community with pride and commitment since joining in 2006, was known for his warm spirit, reliability, and the unwavering support he offered his fellow officers.

Before his tenure in Clifton, Officer Pichnarcik served with the Paterson Police Department.

Pichnarcik was known as a “cop’s cop,” always ready to tackle tough tasks, lend a helping hand, and support his fellow officers whenever needed, his department said.

“He was loved by all who knew him,” the department said, “and our thoughts and prayers are with the Pichnarcik family during this difficult time. Rest peacefully, Joe. We have the watch from here.”

A lifelong resident of Clifton, Pichnarcik moved to Oak Ridge three years ago, his obituary says. He graduated from Clifton High School in 1996 and earned his bachelor’s degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University.

Pichnarcik loved spending time with his three daughters, and as an avid fisherman, reader, and New York Giants fan, he was known for his easy-going nature and commitment to family and friends, his obituary continues.

He's survived by his wife of four years, Christine (Kisiel), by three daughters; Grace, Hailey and Faith; his father, Dennis and step-mother, Suzanne Pichnarcik; his sister, Debra Pichnarcik and fiancé Ian Bailey; nephew, Maximus Bailey, and niece, Lola Bailey. Pichnarcik is predeceased by his mother, Margaret Ann Pichnarcik who died in 1990.

He was a parishioner of St. Brendan RC Church and a proud member of PBA Local #36.

Funeral services will begin at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 12, at Allwood Funeral Home, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass at St. Brendan RC Church. Memorial donations in Joe’s honor may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, a cause close to his heart.
